Help With Tic Tac Toe Challenge

The Game Screen:

1) Here you can choose whether to be X's or O's. In this game of  Tic Tac Toe the X's always go first.

2) This is the start game button. When you have set any settings or controls that you want and are ready to play, just click this button. When a game is in progress this button will be the end game button. If you would like to end a game before it is finished you can click this button and the game will end.

3) This is the game board. This is where all the action is and where the X's and O's will be placed when a game is on. You can change the look of the game board if you wish (see number 7.)

4) With this check box you can turn the sound on (if it is checked) or off (if it is unchecked.)

5) This will set all your game stats to zero. As you play Tic Tac Toe Challenge, the game will keep track of your wins, losses, ties, and total games played. You will be able to save this info (see File Menu below) and keep track of this information for as long as you like. If you would like to zero out your stats click this button and it will set all of them to zero. Remember to save after you do this or the game will load your stats that you saved before the next time you play.

6) You can change the speed of the game with this drop down box. This will not effect how good or bad the computer plays, this only changes the speed of the game. If you are looking to play a leisurely game then leave it at "Think Slow" but to kick up the speed change it to "Think Faster" or "Think Fastest".

7) This is the change the game board button. Clicking this button it will change the game board; there are nine boards to choose from. If you like one board over another you can use the save feature and it will load every time. (see File Menu below)

8)  This button will change the game background picture. If you click this button it will change the background, there are nine backgrounds to choose from. If you like one over another you can use the save feature and it will load every time.(see File Menu below)

9) This is where you set the level of the game. To set this number click on the up and down arrows, 1 is very easy. You should be able to win the  computer every time or at least tie. If you set this to 10 then I believe you will never win, you may tie the computer but I do not believe you can win. You can set this number anywhere from 1 to 10; you pick how smart you want the computer to be.

10) Now this is where the challenge comes in. I wrote this program to be as smart as possible at level 10. In fact I do not believe anyone can beat the computer when it is set at level 10. Now I love a challenge and I have tried and could not win at 10, so I thought you may like a challenge too. Normally you can change the level of the computer anytime you would like, you can even change it in the middle of a game. If you set the level to 10 and click on this check box the computer will not let you change the level until the game is over. This way you will have to play the full game at level 10. If, and this is a big if, you set the level to 10, checked this box, and you win the game you will get a surprise. The computer will display a special window with the winning code in it. If you take a picture or a screen shot or even just write it down and email it to us we will put you on the website on a list of people who won at level 10. But, like I said, don't get your hopes up. I don't think anyone can win at level 10.

EXTRA:

If you would like you can change the "Human" name to your name. Just click in the box and delete "Human" and type in your name.

File Menu:

Save Settings:

If you click on "Save Settings" this will save your game settings so next time all the info will still be there. The settings that it saves are:

Weather you are X's or O's

Your name in the name box

The "Sound On" setting

Your choice of game boards

Your choice of backgrounds

The level you set the game at

The speed the computer thinks at

Total Games

Total Wins

Total Losses

Total Ties

If you want to keep a running total of games or you don't want to have to change your settings each time, use the "Save Settings" feature.
